In Discussion With Ep #002 - Will Wain-Williams & Brendan Tunks - Tang Lang Quan (Mantis Boxing)3/7/2022 Byron Jacobs from Mu Shin Martial Culture recently had Will Wain-Williams from Monkey Steals Peach and I on his 'In Discussion With' show to talk about all things Mantis Boxing. Head over and check out the excellent resources on Byron's YouTube channel including the long running Drunken Boxing Podcast series, plus many interviews with important CMA figures and excerpts from his Hua Jin online training program. Also check out Will's channel, especially the fist 2 episodes of his new series on the Origins of Mantis. Visit, drop some comments, share etc, otherwise this stuff disappears into the algorithm ether. Get stuck in! Some basics. Far from all that are practiced (e.g. there are over 20 kicking drills alone) but a few I recently filmed for a friend as refreshers. It takes at least an hour to get through a decent selection of basic drills. A short compilation of some of the forms and drills that were part of a 3 part interview on Qixing Tanglang with Will Wain-Williams. Check out the Monkey Steals Peach YouTube channel for more. Byron Jacobs from Mu Shin Martial Culture was kind enough to have me as a guest on The Drunken Boxing Podcast recently. If you're keen to hear some of my experiences living, training and competing in China, discussion about the on-the-ground realities of Chinese martial culture, give it a listen, comment/ask questions and feel free to share the interview. Check out the rest of Byron's massive catalogue of work while you're at it too. Peace (and a little bit of war)! I was lucky enough to host good mate and Taiji Tanglang exponent, Will Wain-Williams from Monkey Steals Peach a few weeks back. The following three clips of stream of consciousness rambling and technical demonstration resulted. Initially talking specifically about Qixing Tanglang, I deviated pretty quickly and we ended up talking more about commonalities. Being impromptu, of course I left a lot out (perhaps to be covered at a later date), but we managed to cover some of the key concepts of Mantis Boxing. Enjoy, share, drop a comment and sub to Will's channel if you're into Chinese martial arts. Interviews with two of Canberra's TCMA masters, Miles Henderson and Wang Dapeng soon to come. Feel free to share to stimulate discussion, illustrate different approaches to training etc. Comments welcomed. |
